I am trying to lose Weight!!!!!

Hello my name is yvonne and I am trying to lose a lot of weight,for myself. Right now I am stuck on how to eat healthier and eat right. I have gained alot of weight and now I want to be healthier for my children. I am a mother of 4 ages range from 14yrs-5yrs and I am ready to make a change for my health and my life but am kind of stuck on how to do it. I started by walking 3 miles a day, but I dont know how to eat right. I just need some guidance on how to do this. Right now I weigh 270lbs and my goal is to get back to when I weighed 160lbs, I loved my self then and want to be able to love my self again.Please help anyone I am desprate. Thank You

Do you drink a lot of soda's? I know I used to and one day I decided I was going to see how long I could go without one, I used to drink like 3 mountain dews a day and now that I have stopped drinking them I not only feel a lot better but I have a lot more energy. Now I stick to drinking a lot of water. Trust me it works! :)

Hi Yvonne, What a great thing you want to do. Not only for yourself, but for your kids. I'll bet that they would be willing to help you if you ask them. The advice about sodas was very good. Don't even keep them in the house. Change your diet over to lots of fruits and vegs, lean meats and protein such as beans and yogurt. Research nutritional values on the Internet. If you don't know how I bet your kids can help you with that. Get them to help you in the kitchen and let them be creative. There will be some failures and lots of laughs. Don't look at it as a "diet" but as a lifestyle. Also, start moving. Since you have kids, they can teach you what you've forgotten. Ignore the dummies that snicker, you will be better for it and your kids will be proud. One note, don't jump on your kids if they have a burger or soda with their friends. They are learning a new lifestyle too and they can afford a little leeway, where you can't right now. That doesn't mean you'll never be able to eat some pizza again, it just means that you need to find a healthier way of making it. Also, once you know what's healthy and what's not, you can make better decisions when you go out to eat. Gillian McKeith, the nutritionist, has an excellent website and if you get BBC she has an entertaining show called "You Are What You Eat". Good luck and be good to yourself!

Hey, It is hard to lose weight, I lost 130lbs so far. It has taken me over 1 1/2 to do it but I got some good tips. Give up Regular soda. Soda's should be a treat so if you need one try diet soda ( tastes bad sometimes but you get used to it and may even prefer it later on). I am young (23) and Ive been dealing with being overweight for most my life and It got to the point where I couldnt go to school cause I couldnt stand the bullies. But when I missed my own graduation over it ( I got my diploma at home) I knew it was time to do something so I actually started watching Rachael and I think the best book she ever came out with was Get Real Meals. Im not just saying that because Rachael is my favorite person in the world but seriously. Her Book teaches you how to have things in moderation because giving up carbs comkpletely should be against the law. Its not practical for everyone to give them up. Anyway, try cooking some reciepes out the book and take time to walk at least 30 minutes a day and take time to yourself to sit back and look at what you are eating through out the day write it down even. You'll notice a difference. Once you start walking a little more you might be up to walking miles. I walk 2-3 miles a day and it not only helps but it feels great too! During my process of trying to lose weight I became borderline diabetic and now Im no longer boarderline I have normal levels and because of Rachael and her book and shows I probably wouldn't be where I am today. So I made a promise to my cousin if I lost 100lbs Id get a tattoo and I did, of Rachael on my back because she is my hero and inspiration and not only did I get a tattoo of her on my back but any time I swore or said OUCH during the tattoo I donated a dollar. Here I am 4,000 dollars later and that money will go twords yumo organization because I dont want other kids to go through what I had to go through and I think its a great charity and its my way of giving back to Rachael for everything shes done for me ( even hanging out with me after book signings and being so nice to me). I am also trying to lose weight, which is very hard to do I know. Have you tried switching to whole wheat bread instead of white, I hear its better for you, I like to eat wild grain rice instead of white rice. I have what is called celiac disease, which means I can't have anything with gluten in it. So instead of bread I use corn torillas for bread, wrap your meat and cheese in it or make pizzas out of them, they work really good. Use lots of veggies and fruits also. I'm not active due to sever back pain due never damage and a torn patella (knee cap). I can walk around our very small home with a walker but, to go out I use a wheelchair. Walking is not really an option for me at this time. I do due my exercises for my knee everyday and it is getting better very slowly. Before when I could eat I loved to eat salads just veggies with a tiny bit of salad dressing. A long time ago I lost 60 lbs on weight watchers I went with a freind and it helped to have support at home too. My husband and daughters eat what I eat, no two meals we all eat the same thing and made us healthy eaters at home. Just remember that all the weight didn't come on in a day and it will take time for it to come off. Keep your thoughts on your target and good luck.

Hello my name is Melissa. I am the mother of three children. The youngest is 6, she has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Over the last several years I have lost 65 pounds. I am trying to lose 20 more. I am a stay at home mom with my 2 kids under 3 years old. I gained 65 pounds with my first kid and only about 30 or so with my second. I go to the gym everyday (5 days). I have not noticed any difference in the past year since my daughter was born. It is VERY discouraging!! I am really unhappy with my weight. It is too expensive to eat healthy and stay on a budget. I wish that I had all of the money that a celebrity does so that I can have a baby and then hire a trainer, nutritionist and a nanny to help out until I can lose all of the weight.

I know that it is hard but I know that losing weight can be done. I do not drink sodas, or eat fast food so I would think that it would be possible to lose weight...so why isn't it.

I have the motivation, willpower, and the wardrobe, but not the money to lose weight so why can't I?

To all those who are trying to lose weight,

I am in my 40's and have been trying to lose my weight for years. I have worked out and most of the time, eat healthy. I have struggled and struggled, spoke with my doctor. I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem and have been taking supplements for this. Hi, you've gotten a lot of good advice, especially about giving up sodas (in any form) and drinking water and herb teas (caffeine free), switching to whole grain products and not eating fast foods. You also need to conciously move. You can get a work out tape (make it fun) and your kids can dance with you or whatever, or you can just coose to walk more and take the stairs instead of the elevator or even play kickball with the kids. Look at fruits and vegs as specially wonderful foods and try anew one each week. Let your kids help you pick one at the grocery store and then find a recipe on the computer. Some you'll love, some you'll laugh at, some you may even be divided over, but make food fun and interesting and your kids will respond, and grow healthier too. You might try growing something, even if it's a tomato plant in a pot, or strawberries. Good luck and let us know how things go for you.

Great diet soup, which helped me to loose three pounds last week, and two pounds this week. Basically last week i had worked out in gym five times per week and ate this diet soup whenever i was hungry: Sliced half a cabbage, cubed half of green pepper, 3 sticks of scallion-cut, and 3 sticks of celery-thinly cut. Place the vegetables in med. cooking pan and fill the vegetables with cold water. Let it get to boiling stage and then add: 2 cubes of chicken bullion,half tea spoon curry powder,half tea spoon chilly powder,half tea spoon abodo,half tea spoon or less paprica, some cut parsley and fennel, some salt and pepper and one bay leaf. Soup cooks about 30 min. and it is very spicy, who loves spicy soups you'll Love This Soup! Eat as much soup as you want. Also, what is great about this diet that you can eat other foods you enjoy but sparingly and no Fried Food allowed during this diet. I wish you all luck. Exercise 2 hours-daily or every other day, eat soup and you'll love your body. I've been on this soup for 2 weeks and i've lost 5 pounds and i feel and look great.

Read about my diet spicy soup and exercise. Be pationed because it's hard to loose it; it takes time.
